Kildare Attractions & Places to Visit
County Kildare, bordering Dublin, Wicklow, Carlow, Laois, Offaly & Meath is a county of open heathlands, lush green pastures, large tracts of tillage land and ancient boglands punctuated by gently rolling hills.
Kildare is a famous sporting county most notably for its horse racing and thoroughbred industy. In September 2006 it was firmly placed on the world golfing map when the 2006 Ryder Cup was held in the K Club, Straffan, County Kildare. It is also the county with the highest density of golf courses in Ireland.
Horse racing at the Curragh, Punchestown and Naas takes place all year round boasting some of the biggest meetings in the county's flat and national hunt racing calendar, including the Irish National Hunt Festival in April & the Irish Derby in June.
Kildare offers visitors a depth of heritage & culture to explore such as the Japanese & St. Fiachra's Gardens, St Brigid's Cathedral & Round Tower, Heritage centers, Historical Houses and High Crosses.

The Curragh Racecourse
The Curragh Racecourse in Kildare is one of the premier international horse racing venues in the world and one of Ireland’s leading sporting locations. It hosts up to 19 race days from March to October including all 5 Irish Classic races featuring the Boylesports Irish Guineas Festival, Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, Darley Irish Oaks and The Irish Field St Leger. |

Punchestown Racecourse
Punchestown plays host to approximately 18 race meetings annually as well as numerous shows, concerts and events. The highlight being the five day Irish National Hunt Festival held at the end of April every year. Go racing to Punchestown and you will experience the palpably vibrant atmosphere that is unique to Punchestown and has captivated generations of Irish and international racegoers. |

Irish National Stud & Japanese Gardens combines an active role in the development and promotion of Irish bloodstock with its role as one of the country's major tourist attractions.
The Japanese Gardens at Tully were created between the years 1906-1910. The Gardens, planned to symbolise the 'Life of Man', are now of international renown and are acclaimed as the finest Japanese Gardens in Europe.
